User Manual (Windows) · A little pet living on your desktop
Portable · Single file · No data collectionOnce installed, your little friend lives right on your desktop — out of your way, no babysitting needed.
Strolls around, jumps, climbs walls, hangs upside down from the ceiling — and yawns, stretches and blinks. You just do your thing.
Click it, drag it, fling it — it reacts to everything. Go ahead, it can't break.
Pops up a silly little quote now and then. Quotes update online automatically; built-in ones work offline too.
The bunny and the panda are just the start — more pets are on the way, and they can all play on your desktop together.
No installer, nothing to set up. Under a minute.
Get DeskBud_Win_vVERSION.exe (a portable single file, no install needed). If it's in a zip, unzip it first. A path with only English characters is recommended (e.g. D:\Pets\) — some older systems don't like non-ASCII paths.
The app isn't code-signed, so your antivirus or Windows may false-flag it once — that's normal. If your antivirus complains, add it to the whitelist / trust list; if you see "Windows protected your PC", click "More info" → "Run anyway". Allow it once and it'll be smooth afterwards.
Double-click the exe — on the very first launch, wait 1–3 seconds before your pet appears. That's normal, not a freeze. Then it starts living its life on your desktop.
Just a few gestures — the rest is up to your pet.
Click it lightly and it opens a parachute, drifting down slowly.
Press and hold to charge up, then release — it rockets to the top of the screen and walks around upside down.
While it's hanging from the ceiling, click it once and it lets go — with a little bounce on landing.
Drag and fling it quickly — it flies, and on hitting the screen edge it climbs up the wall.
Hold and drag it anywhere. Hovering your mouse over it pauses it; move away and it resumes.
Walk left / right (super fast), orbit / custom circle (drag a rectangle for it to walk around), focus mode, resize, language, about; the pet wall in the upper half brings a buddy up or puts it back with one click, the pose card on the right has Adopt, and share, quit plus the website link sit at the very bottom.
There's a Share button at the bottom of the menu — tap it and you get a card you can save as an image, or copy in one click and paste straight into WeChat.
Tick the ones you want — more pets are coming, and your crew can keep growing.
Right-click menu → the pet wall in the upper half → click the pets you want (the bunny and the panda for now) to bring them up. Click again to put one back — at least one must stay.
More and more new pets are coming — when they launch, just click them on the pet wall and they will all play on your desktop together. Grow your crew as you like.
Open a question for the answer — most issues take 10 seconds to fix.
DeskBud_Win_vVERSION.exe. If it got deleted, download it again and allow it — it won't be flagged again afterwards.Win+R, type winver, Enter — "Version 1809" or later, or 11, is fine.
DeskBud豁牙小兔日志.txt (a .txt log) right next to the program. If it won't start, send that file to the author for a quick diagnosis (contact via deskbud.net). If no such file exists at all, the program was never allowed to run — go back to ①②.
.dll: install Microsoft's "Visual C++ Redistributable" and try again. Very old GPUs may show glitches — that's a known limitation.
